Ney is an ancient wind instrument and it is made from Phragmites. Nay has 6 holes and 7 abutments and it is made in different sizes. Ney is a solo instrument and sometimes as part of an ensemble.
Ney cannot be tuned up but different types and sizes of Ney can be used to change the tune. Accents, staccatos, and short arpeggios can be played very well by this instrument. Playing Ney with bass sound need more volume of sound than treble sound. The volume of Ney is almost 2.5 octaves.

- He has started learning to play Ney from 1989. He learned it under the supervision of the maestro, Mohammad Ali Kiani Nejad. Then, he learned under the supervision of the maestro Hassan Kassai for 11 years. Thus, his style of playing Ney is in Kassai Style.
- He also completed his studies under the supervision of Abdolghani Afsharniya at Tehran University of Art for 2 years. He also trained by the maestro, Hassan Nahid in 1997.
